Best Lyrics 5. Captain Straight Edge (International Superheroes of Hardcore) "Seat Belt" You might think you look stupid But the ISHC, we think it's cool Yeah, Yeah
Your friend slams the brake You smash your head Be thankful for your life You could be dead You get hit from behind Your car's all a wreck Be thankful for your life You could have broke your neck
Seat belt! Seat belt! Never forget! Never forget your Seat belt! Seat belt! Never forget!
4. Conor Oberst "Moab" They say the sun won't burn forever But that's a science, too exact I can prove it Watch, we're crossing the state line See those headlights coming towards us? That's someone going back To a town they said they'd never Yeah, they swore it on their life
3. Shawn Harris (The Matches) "From 24C" You'll love a good many men, mmhmm And loving me ain't gonna stop all of them Like Adam we are flawed In the image of our Gods Of our fathers, who never bothered To consider they were not the only ones Faith, oh faith is a way to believe lies that we need Then to be faithful is to be truthless But that's more than I need to say Oh just don't run off and get married And I'll surely be okay 'Cause I love you May love a good many you's I've got to go now and pack my suitcase Glad that you're okay And I love you, happy birthday I'll see you in sixteen days
2. Dustin Kensrue (Thrice) "Broken Lungs" Are we fools and cowards all To let them cover up their lies? Cause we all watched the buildings fall Watched the scales fall from our eyes
We want answers Scream from the roofs We want justice We want the truth
1. Rody Walker (Protest the Hero) "Wretch" Chews the fat with his creator Over breakfast in the sunlight Though when he says grace, when he says grace He feels enveloped like a shadow But there are evenings There are evenings when this decimated world of movement, color and form Gets thin, and getting thinner When lights are dim, and getting dimmer When nights are grim and they're only getting, only getting grimmer
As they barter their boulders And martyr their shoulders Teach a man to tear her fucking head from her god damn shoulders

Top 20 CDs 20. All Time Low - So Wrong It's Right - A solid full length but it has a few songs that sound like generic filler (Holly I'm looking at you). But still a good pop punk CD, certainly more than enough to please the MTV masses.
19. Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer - Schematics - This band is just straight up fun. Their songs are simple and catchy, and that's all I fucking need sometimes.
18. Thrice - The Alchemy Index Volumes I & II: Fire & Water - Far different when compared side by side to their older albums, but once you get past the fact that this isn't the classic Thrice you know and love, you realize these are two amazing EPs.
17. Eisley - Combinations - I'm still amazed by how they can harmonize so well, I just wish I could see them with less shitty sound.
16. Say Anything - In Defense of the Genre... - If it was just the first disc it may have been a bit higher but a damn good double disc set featuring everyone from Anthony Green to Pete Yorn.
15. Against Me! - New Wave - I've always known about this band and heard great things but I never bothered listening to them until very recently and damn I should have stayed to watch them after Circa at SXSW.
14. Tegan & Sara - The Con - I finally got back into them after not listening to them much since If It Was You.
13. Melee - Devils & Angels - I don't understand why more people don't love this band. They are ridiculously fun and damn he can sing.
12. The Receiving End of Sirens - The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi - I tried to compare this to the last album way too much and was vastly disappointed but this is actually an amazing album. They still kill it live by the way.
11. Chiodos - Bone Palace Ballet - Some people didn't really like this album but I think it's incredible. On the other hand though, I don't understand how they can pull it off live considering nearly every song has a full orchestral accompaniment.
10. Four Year Strong - Rise or Die Trying - Their live show won me over. A good combination of hardcore/punk with straight up catchy pop punk.
9. Straylight Run - The Needles The Space - I had grown tired of this band by the time this album came out and kind of passed over it at first, but after seeing them at Warped Tour twice, I realized just how amazing they are now. The power going out halfway through Buttoned Down and the crowd finishing it was probably one of the single best live moments this year.
8. We Are the Fury - Venus - Dance rock to the max. I think We Are the Fury could become huge if they are marketed right. This CD just makes you want to dance from the very first note.
7. New Found Glory - From the Screen to Your Stereo Pt. II - New Found Glory + more movie covers + it's a freaking full length = One of the best CDs of the year
6. Every Time I Die - The Big Dirty - It sounds like nonsense and screaming but Keith is one of the best lyricists out there.
5. The Honorary Title - Scream and Light Up the Sky - Jarrod continues to amaze me with his voice and lyrics. This CD improves on the first in so many ways and yet I still haven't seen them live.
4. Jimmy Eat World - Chase This Light - Jimmy Eat World returned with a little more upbeat and positive record compared to Futures and it shows that they are still one of the best rock bands out there.
3. Dustin Kensrue - Please Come Home - Dustin released his first solo album early this year full of acoustic and folk songs, something vastly different from his work with Thrice. It just shows how much he is capable of and how much of an amazing songwriter he is.
2. A Fine Frenzy - One Cell in the Sea - Allison Sudol released her debut this year and it continues to amaze me. An amazing voice and a simply great laid back album.
1. Circa Survive - On Letting Go - I got two Circa Survive tattoos this year, how can I not give them album of the year? It's incredible. Anthony Green sings like an ungodly angel/demon hybrid. Not to mention how they manage to use everyone's strengths to create some incredible music. See them live now.

Best Lyrics: Just a little fyi, I'm ranking them by themselves, not on these individual songs - they just serve as good examples
9. Dewey Cox "Royal Jelly" Mailboxes drip like lampposts in the twisted birth canal of the coliseum Rim job fairy teapots mask the temper tantrum Oh say can you see 'em Stuffed cabbage is the darling of the laundromat And the sorority mascot sat with the lumberjack Pressing passing stinging half synthetic fabrication of his---time The mouse with the overbite explained how the rabbits were ensnared And the skinny scanty sylph trashed the apothecary diplomat Inside the three-eyed monkey within inches of his toaster oven life
In my mind I'm half blind My inner ref Is mostly deaf I'm smell impaired If you cared My sense of taste is wasted on the phosphorescent orange peels of San Francisco axe-encrusted frenzy
So let me touch you Let me touch you Let me touch you Let me touch you Where the royal jelly gets made
8. Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World) "Big Casino" Back when I was younger I was someone you'd have liked Got an old guitar I've had for years, I'd let you buy And I'll tell you something else That you ain't died enough to know There's still some living left when your prime comes and goes
Get up, Get up Dance on the ceiling Get up, Get up Boy you must be dreaming Rock on young savior Don't get up your hopes
I'll accept with poise, with grace When they draw my name from the lottery And they'll say, "All the salt in the world couldn't melt that ice" I'm the one who gets away I'm a New Jersey success story And they'll say, "Lord give me the chance to shake that hand"
7. Maria Taylor "A Good Start" You're one with the burden of intuition You're one with the freedom of a blank stare You're one with the best friend you lost you wish was still there You're one with the dust on that old piano You're one with the strings on your new guitar You're one with the wind through the open window, you are
It was a faint line that brought you here and a pulse that kept you in time It was the comfort of a tradition but the fear that you were not that kind And it's a shame now, baby, you can't see yourself in everything you're running from And it's the same world, honey, that has brought you down as the one that's gonna pick you up, and pick you up
6. Max Bemis (Say Anything) "That is Why" And yes I know my addictions run the gamut The drugs, the smokes, the booze, the 24 But you can't make the turkey colder Or skew me less bipolar Let me list the things about you I abhor
Horrible, you're So easy, Talk sleazy You led me off the plank and left me queasy And that is why You can't rock my world
5. John Nolan/Michelle DaRosa (Straylight Run) "How Do I Fix My Head?" Here in this yellow room Blocking the screaming sounds from the stage Their silhouettes passing by in the doorway I pay no mind You're half-dressed and star-struck Will they pull you out? Will they bring you back? We both know what's coming You aren't the first, you won't be the last
So take it all off for them Take it all off for them I swear, they'll like it I'm listening to what they say Feeling less and less okay But it's the same old story How do I fix my head?
4. Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) "Four Winds" The Bible's blind, the Torah's deaf, the Qur'an is mute If you burned them all together you'd be close to the truth still They are pouring over Sanskrit under Ivy League moons While shadows lengthen in the sun
Cast on a school of meditation built to soften the times And hold us at the center while the spiral unwinds It's knocking over fences, crossing property lines Four winds cry until it comes
3. Anthony Green (Circa Survive) "Kicking Your Crosses Down" But we won't be saved, we’ll live as slaves to love What God takes away, let’s refill all your holes with mud “Purchase your tickets; I’m kicking your crosses down” And all the voices sound just like you I’ll be there- Breathe in- It’s been so long (I’ve felt so wrong again) I fixed myself up nice but you never came The words rolled off our backs and sound the same I’ll be waiting- I hope that it’s worth it but I’ll never know
2. Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die) "Imitation is the Sincerest From of Battery" Retract the accolade, the candid acclaim. Inspiration is cutting its loss. Regurgitate headlines or a theory on modern art. You've been fooled again. The red herring's a joke.
I tried so hard to tell you that I've tapped the well dry. But there's no word.
Stay wistful and young. The affected are banking on oblivion -in the drone of embittered hope- and we're sold by the way they wrote it.
Oh, it's the end of the line. I'm cornered by a precedent; the sneering public eye.
My job here is done. My job here is done.
And it is better to destroy, than to create what is meaningless, so the picture will not be finished.
1. Jarrod Gorbel (The Honorary Title) "Thin Layer" Through a thin layer of rubber and a thick rusted armor of drunken lust I think when our clothes were on we had a different image of what this was supposed to be
Here's what I intended Here is the truth
The soundtrack to our meeting fills the awkward spaces between our strained breathing And the only thing between, between the two of us, is your blood and our sweat

They were opening the main stage because I guess they hate big crowds or something. Anyway most people will tell you they sucked but I thought they were pretty good in an "I don't give a fuck what you think" kind of way. They played Degausser twice, yes twice (with slightly different lyrics), but nothing off of Deja (I at least wanted Sic Transit). BUT they played Seventy Times 7 and they don't really play that anymore. I can't remember if they did the other two times I saw them, maybe once but it was a long time ago so I have no idea.
Degausser Sowing Season Luca Degausser You Won't Know Welcome to Bangkok Seventy Times 7
Young Love
After that we headed over to the other mainstage to catch Young Love but they were opening with the one song I really wanted to hear (Discotech). They played a few others but no Recover songs including Too Young to Fight It, Take It or Leave It, Give Up, and closed with Find a New Way.
Sherwood
I wanted a good spot for The Matches and no one was playing so I decided to catch Casey and the Dear Hunter but got there early enough to catch two songs by Sherwood, one being Middle of the Night. They sounded decent but the keyboardist just reminded me of a dancing Andy Dick and I couldn't stand it, haha.
The Dear Hunter
I may end up liking The Dear Hunter recorded but I was bored with their performance (granted I was also up by The Matches side and couldn't see shit). So yeah.
The Matches
Another reason I didn't like the Dear Hunter - they aren't the fucking Matches. While they played the same set plus Salty Eyes, they were still fucking fantastic. I hate myself for not listening to Flyzik and Ryan back in the day when they would say how amazing they are since they just recently headlined Providence last year and other shows I could have gone to, dammit.

The Early November
Being TEN's final show "ever," I decided to check out a song - Every Night's Another Story. Their greatest song obviously. I heard a few others from a far but the names escape me. It was a good performance but I'm not sad about them leaving because I stopped listening.
Circa Survive
So anyway, fuck TEN, Circa was playing. I got a decent spot where I could pay attention without many crowdsurfers (although Ben said he was fine up front). They came out with a ton of huge balls and rocked Oh, Hellp (similar to the Philly show). They sounded better than ever but unfortunately no Difference, still fucking amazing though.

All Time Low
We went to check out All Time Low for the hell of it and they were good, I've only seen them 15 damn times now so yeah. I left halfway through their set for Melle (oh and they had a mega huge crowd). And Ben filled me in on what I missed as well, that's why I still have a full set list for all you wondering.

Melee
I'm really glad I left early because Melee is so fucking good live. They got cut off (didn't play the War) but they were damn good. He can fucking sing and rock the piano. If they come near you, try and see them.

Envy On the Coast
I managed to catch more of their set, so that makes it four times and I don't even love them, but they're pretty solid so yeah.
Rx Bandits
Saw part of their set. They sounded pretty good but I was near the back and didn't know the new songs, but they played Sell You Beautiful so fuck yeah!
The Bled
I left them early to catch some of the Bled who were solid as always. And they dedicated a song to Weird Al so huzzah. They played other songs but these are the ones I remember and that I saw, I had to leave early for Thrice, duh.
Red Wedding The Last American Cowboy I Never Met Another Gemini
Thrice
Thrice's set was plagued with random technical issues, maybe that's why they couldn't play To Awake, but they were still pretty good. Hell I hadn't heard the full band Stare at the Sun in quite some time. They played a new song off the Fire record, which was good (probably much better recorded) but lacked some of the intensity we were hoping for.

Taking Back Sunday
We caught most of TBS set but they just do not translate that well to the large crowds (but I did like them better at Merriweather). You just can't ignore the shitty vocals, 9:30 club is the place for them. Anyway we left during My Blue Heaven and pretty much heard all their set (and the godawful vocals in MakeDamnSure). The set should be correct but we could have missed something.

Weird Al Fucking Yankovic
Now the fucking headliner (fuck Linkin Park). I should have seen him in Baltimore but fuck. Anyway, he was amazing with the costumes, videos, and everything. I'm pretty sure almost everyone there only knew the 'hits' and were totally caught offguard with Polkarama and the videos. Again, go and see Weird Al, it's more than a concert! I included all the videos and stuff in the set with a *.

Looking at Weird Al stuff, he did fucking Albuquerque on the tour, dammit.

For those who don't know, Bamboozle is a huge festival held in New Jersey that I went to this past weekend with Ben and my brother. It's essentially a super huge Warped Tour (and I mean super huge).
And it's two days. So the first day we drive up, wait in a crazy not really line to get in. Once we get in we head to the main stage's sister stage (each stage had one near it that had bands playing at the exact opposite times, however these two were far away so you'd miss some of a band if you stayed til the end of a set). It was a fairly large stage which kind of sucked because a good amount of bands we wanted to see were playing there.
End of an Era
Fucking sucked. Nothing else to say.
The Receiving End of Sirens
Now this was the reason we went over there. We got really close which wasn't the best idea because it prevented us from fully watching the band. I swear I saved one crowdsurfer's life by catching him maybe a foot off the ground (at most). Anyway TREOS played a sweet new song and finally brought back Broadcast Quality! My throat was sore afterwards from screaming the end of BQ, but it was well worth it.

Boys Like Girls
After that we kind of hung out in the back of the crowd for the mainstage and saw a bit of Boys Like Girls. They opened with Five Minutes to Midnight and closed with The Great Escape. I heard a few others but the titles escape me. Around here I noticed just how crazy huge the main stage crowds were (even with a band that I thought was fairly small). Here's a little picture (keep in mind there's plenty more people watching not in the frame).
It felt like HFStival, but with way better bands.
Envy on the Coast (Acoustic)
After that I headed over to that huge white bubble in the picture. It was the Giants practice field with the TV stage set up inside. A limited amount of people were let in but Thrice was playing there acoustic later so they were handing out special passes which I didn't grab because I was already going to be in there so I didn't think they'd kick me out (Apparently Eddie and Riley from Thrice couldn't even get in). Anyway I saw Envy play a short acoustic set which was pretty good.

The Matches (The Locals)
Next up were The Locals which was a secret name for the Matches. They taped all these performances and I'm still trying to find what they did with them because they were damn good. They didn't even play most of the songs I wanted to hear but were easily my favorite band of the day. They have so much energy, it's insane. The cheap little barrier they had set up got knocked over by people during the set. Shawn also jumped into the crowd a few times, the camera people were not very happy but oh well.

Say Anything
After getting kicked out before Thrice we got food which took way too long. We then got a spot on the mainstage to see Say Anything. They played to a shitload of people and while they played a very short set, it was pretty much the best one they could play with that much time. It's here I noticed the sound on the mainstage sucked. The backup vocals were louder than Max, the keyboard was way too loud, etc. But most bands still sounded good. They also played a new song which was amazing.
Alive With the Glory of Love Belt Woe People Like You Like People Like Me Dead Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too Admit It!
New Found Glory
I had to miss Bearfort (Thursday) for New Found Glory because well it's New Found Glory. I would have missed them for Glassjaw but that was a lie and it was actually Motion City Soundtrack so fuck that. NFG sounded great even with the shit sound. I was hoping for a song from FTSTYSII but no luck, maybe on Warped. They played a few non single to make it not super predictable and even covered Minor Threat.
All Downhill From Here Understatement Something I Call Personality Hold My Hand Forget My Name Truth of My Youth Minor Threat (Cover) Hit Or Miss Intro My Friends Over You
Van Stone
There was some fake band playing over on another stage so we went to check it out. Turns out it was a shitty joke band called Van Stone. I ended up sort of watching them because I felt like sitting down for a while.
Hellogoodbye
I headed back to the mainstage to hang out before MCR while my brother watched The Rocket Summer. Ben and I were in the back but we saw Shimmy Shimmy Quarter Turn, Call N' Return, Oh It Is Love, Touchdown Turnaround, and they ended with Here In Your Arms. They sounded alright, but we weren't really paying attention.
My Chemical Romance
After that we got a good spot for MCR. Ray, Bob, and Mikey's replacement were all really sick but they played anyway (making them more sick) and that's cool. The stage was designed for them so they had sweet fire and during Disenchanted's interlude they had falling sparks making it super fucking epic. They played all of the Black Parade (yes all of it) then took a short break while Blood played over the loud speaker. They came back for a few off Three Cheers (but nothing off of Bullets). They sounded great though. They are one of the few bands whose sound truly carries over to that huge of a crowd (unlike a certain band on day two).

No one really goes to shows anymore, I feel old when I go, but fuck it.
Love Arcade
They were first and started about 3 minutes after my brother and I got inside so hell yeah. They were another dance-pop punkish style band and were actually my favorite of the openers. I was going to buy their CD but I hate lines so fuck that.
This Providence
I was kind of looking forward to TP mainly just to hear "A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" but of course they opened with it. Therefore I was pretty bored for the rest of their set. They were alright I guess. The singer definately wants to be William (TAI) but not as crazy skinny.
The Almost
Remember when we listened to Underoath all the time? Good times. They were meh other than the last two songs. Aaron got his stage moves from the Underoath keyboardist I swear. Some of the crowd seemed to only be there for them, lame.
Paramore
Now for Paramore. They came out to a cool mariachi or..something version of "Misery Business" and launched into it, pretty sweet. The new songs all sounded great, much better than the old ones. I don't think the guitarist is all that good, he seemed to mess up a little but whatever. Hayley looked great, even with the red, orange, yellow explosion on her head. When they were playing the new songs with the old songs, it really reinforced the weaknesses of the first CD (same sort of single guitar riff/structure in every song). However the new songs are amazing so I'm pretty excited for the CD. Not to mention it was the first time I saw them play "Brighter." The song "For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic" may have the worst title ever but it's damn good. Oh and they played "Hallelujah" which will be on the Riot!

Born for This Pressure
So yeah, that was that, and we were home by 1015! Actually we went to Evan's to watch the great cinematic adventure Frankenfish.
